Getting a pet to level 50 in Grow a Garden used to feel like a proper chore, but the newer tomato method has changed the pace a lot. If you're trying to save time, build stronger pets, or stack up useful GaG Items for later updates, this setup is worth learning. It isn't just about throwing pets into a garden and hoping for the best. You're setting up the fruit first, then letting the right team do the heavy lifting.
Quick route before you startThe whole trick begins with tomatoes. Fill as many plots as you can with them, then focus on mutations before you even think about levelling the target pet. You'll notice the difference once the garden is stacked properly. Eight mutations on the tomatoes is a good number to aim for, though more won't hurt if your setup can handle it.
  • Plant a full tomato garden before bringing in the levelling team.
  • Use mutation pets first, not your final levelling pets.
  • Aim for around eight mutations on the fruit.
  • Swap in Tiger if you need to reroll weak or unwanted mutations.
Pets that help build the gardenFor the mutation stage, players usually lean on pets like Mimic, Peacock, Phoenix, Wolf, Geode Turtle, Nullip, Dark Sprigger, and Kappa. They're picked because they can spread mutations without too much waiting around. Geode Turtle is especially handy, since it can turn an Advanced Sprinkler into a Geode Mutation Sprinkler. That one change can make the garden feel far less slow. If the mutations still look poor, Tiger can replace one with a random new option, which gives you another shot before the levelling run starts.

The active levelling setupOnce the tomatoes are ready, switch to the levelling team. The common active lineup is one Lion, two Griffins, one Hot Dog pet, and three Venom Puritins. There's one small detail people mess up: only the Hot Dog should have Everchanted. The rest should stay on Venom mutations. That keeps the Medium Passive Boost running while stopping the pets from burning through your best fruit too quickly. With clean timing, this can take a fresh pet from level 0 to level 50 in about 2 minutes and 8 seconds.
AFK option for easier grindingIf you don't want to sit there managing every second, the AFK version is more relaxed. Use two Puritins and one Elephant in place of part of the active setup. The Elephant should be around 20kg, and it shouldn't carry mutations that add passive boosts. Players use this because of the well-known Elephant Bug, which can help create 40kg pets while still gaining levels in the background. It's slower, sure, but roughly 3 minutes and 8 seconds to level 50 is still quick for a low-effort method.
Why this method is catching onThe appeal is pretty simple: less grinding, faster pet growth, and more room to prepare for future events. Grow a Garden changes often, so players who keep their gardens ready tend to stay ahead. Some also look for ways to buy GaG Items Roblox when they want extra resources alongside their own farming. Either way, this tomato levelling route gives you a strong base, whether you're playing actively or letting the garden work while you're away.
